The stove design industry is changing fast. With a view to the future, members of the Stove Industry Alliance (SIA) are collaborating to utilise the latest technology to make wood burning stoves more economical, efficient and kinder to the planet than ever before.
The Ecodesign Ready scheme is an EU initiative to reduce harmful emissions all over Europe. Recent studies by KIWA GASTEC have found Ecodesign Ready stoves can offer a 90% reduction in particulates compared to an open fire and 80-94% compared to an old stove.
Currently it is not a requirement to have an Ecodesign Ready appliance but it will be by 2022. All stoves purchased before this date can still be legally installed and used after the 2022 deadline. The regulations are in place for sales after that date. Many people, concerned by the impact of their consumer choices on the environment, are choosing Ecodesign Ready appliances before the deadline.
Our best selling brand Ecosy+ is member of the SIA. Its very first Ecodesign Ready appliance, the Panoramic wood burning only stove, has been launched years in advance of the 2022 deadline, showing the company's commitment to the industry and environment. Even more Ecodesign Ready wood burning stoves will follow in the late stages of 2018 and 2019.
