2022 Eco Design Ready

The Defra Approved 5kw Ecosy+ Signature Wide is one of the most up to date stoves on the market. UK lab testing has proven this model exceeds the new Eco Design requirements that will be mandatory for all stoves by 2022. Separate testing also concluded that this unit is suitable for smoke free zones and is listed on the Defra database. Slimline

This stove answers a lot of customers' problems - they need a physically large wood only stove but can only install one with a 5kw output. This has been achieved with this model by clever design. The external body is very wide (560mm) but the depth of the stove is shallow (314mm). The Signature also has a twin layer construction - the inner layer has been tapered in at the sides making the fire box slightly smaller and therefore reducing the potential heat output. The firebox is still 400mm wide meaning large logs are not a problem. 

About the stove and how it works

This advanced wood burning stove has been designed by our sister company Ecosy+ of Hampshire, and incorporates all the best bits from their current model range. Having sold tens of thousands of stoves, Ecosy+ has utilised all they have learned to create a reliable, stylish and efficient stove. 

Features on this stove far exceed models that cost north of £1000. Its huge heat resistant ceramic glass front gives a beautiful uninterrupted view of the fire. The hidden gem of this stove is its internal shell, effectively another stove inside the stove, where air is drawn in from the stove's rear, fed between two layers of steel and precisely dispersed over the fire through a series of holes inside the chamber. Having the air introduced high up in chamber is an effective way of re-burning the initial smoke and pollutants created by the fire. The air that is not dispersed through these holes speeds up as it rises over the fire and is released like a curtain of air over the glass, helping to keep it clean and clear of smoke stains.

The Signature is a wood burning only stove, therefore it does not require a multi-fuel grate or ash pan as wood loves to burn on the base. The stove is lined with thick 30mm vermiculite boards that protect the stove's shell and its internal steel baffle is removable for sweeping. To the side of the stove is a well-engineered dial which gives an incredibly accurate degree of control over the fire as the vent plate is mechanically attached to the body. The Signature has a 30mm thick virgin ore cast iron door that helps to retain and slowly release the heat into the room in conjunction with the stove's thick steel body. Going into the door is the stove's unique brushed chrome push pull leaver. As with all parts of the Signature, they are well designed and engineered but not over-complicated; too often stoves have over-complicated systems that do not stand the test of time and can be incredibly expensive and complicated to fix. Heat Output Range

The Signature Wide has a 5kw nominal output which can make installation a lot easier as no air brick is required. It benefits from a 3.6kw to just under 7kw range, meaning this stove can be suitable for a large number of spaces from small to large.

7 Year Guarantee

This covers the stove's body and not the internal perishable parts like grates and fire bricks. Guarantee is activated when the stove is invoiced. 6 digit number on the top of each invoice is the warranty number. For stove to be covered it must be installed by a HETAS / OFTEC engineer or signed off by building control.

DEFRA Approved

This version of the 5kw Signature has been rigorously tested and approved to burn wood in smoke controlled zones. Defra approved stoves with 5" flue outlets, like this one, can also be installed with a 5" liner. The Defra approval has been achieved by factory fitting a mechanical stop to prevent secondary air closure beyond the 31mm open position. When ordering over the phone please specify that you require the DEFRA version.

Stove Construction

The Signature is a "hybrid" stove, and its body is constructed from quality Q235B carbon steel, that has been chosen for its plasticity, toughness and weldability. The door is made from very thick mineral cast iron that helps retain the heat and slowly release it into the room. Having a cast iron door also enables us to add features like the shallow curves on the top and bottom. The internal lining is vermiculite and the grate is constructed from heavy duty cast iron and includes an ash pan. - The stove weighs over 90kg
