Genuine Kadai Bowls

Enjoy a unique piece of Indian history at home.

These amazing handmade pieces have been gathered from all over India and sent direct to us. Each bowl is estimated to be around 60 to 90 years old and includes stunning wear that only time can produce. These bowls would have been used for cooking at Indian festivals and are now ready to sit centre stage at your home.

The 120cm bowl is something truly special and extremely rare! If you have a large courtyard or patio and are looking for a centrepiece, this is it. In our opinion they represent amazing value and have seen these sold for over £900 in antique shops.

Each bowl is handmade and completely unique, meaning there will be slight variations in size and weight. For example a bowl we list at 100cm may actually be 96cm or 105cm.

Specification and dimensions

  • Each bowl has been painted black but over time this will most likely wear and produce a beautiful patina (as seen in the gallery images).
  • These would not originally have had a stand but we have had one made for each piece. This does not have to be used and the bowl can sit flat on the ground if safe to do so.
  • 100cm Bowl - Roughly 50kg
  • 120cm Bowl - Roughly 85kg

Caring For Your Bowl

When cast iron is new it can be very brittle and can crack if excessive heat is passed through it before it has time to cure. To prevent shock cracking we suggest having one or two very small fires, letting the bowl go cold before lighting it again.

Warning

Always ensure that children and pets are kept well away from the bowl when lit. Position the bowl well away from any flammable objects and ensure the bowl is safe and secure on the stand before lighting it. Never leave the fire pit unattended and be careful when refuelling as the whole cast bowl will get very hot.

Why Are We So Cheap?

This is a very common question and the answer is simple: this Bowl is designed by our team, constructed in our factory where we also have numerous Wood-burning stoves made, meaning we buy in very large quantities. We are also an internet-based company with no showroom, so all of these factors combined means we can offer a fantastic product at a very good price.
