Personally......I wouldn't bother. I umm'd and arr'd for weeks, whether to buy the oven attachment and the recommended rear outlet box. In a nut shell......the oven does not get hot enough. I went for the recommended rear stove outlet box, meaning the flue dosnt come directly out the top of the oven as I read that it can be a pain to clean. What happens is the heat now transfers from the burner to the oven. Whereas originaly the hot air would pass directly up and around the oven jacket. I cannot get the oven any hotter that 150° and that takes a while at best. If you want to keep things warm it's fine. But cooking in it....is pointless. As you'd of wasted away before anything would be close to eating. The Ottawa 5kw its self is a joy to own....sadly though the oven.......is now just a very heavy, £200 box sat in my workshop. I went against my instincts and the reviews by others on this website, and purchased this bolt on oven along with the Ottawa stove. Its been two seasons since I bought them, and I haven't had the same issues as two of the other people who said the oven causes a blockage and prevents proper exhaust. I have had a carbon monoxide detector in the room and there have been no issues at all.
I have only used dry, seasoned wood and smokeless coal ovals in the firebox. I used the exhaust outlet on the back of the oven (as opposed to the stove). Everything works fine, and has for two years now.
Also, thanks to stove world for a seemless transaction and delivery. I will definitely use them again.
Do not buy this! This attachment should come with a hazard warning. It only worked for about 8-10 weeks then poisoned us, because it became blocked (design fault) and it is unblockable (another design fault). This attachment is not fit for purpose and im grateful for smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors!! This company were also unprofessional to deal with so ive had to raise my concerns and complaints with trading standards.
This oven top is not safe. I have no idea how it is still for sale.
Basically this oven sits directly on top of the stove. The smoke (and heat) has to pass around the back and sides of the oven (around 1 inch deep). This EASILY gets clogged with cinder, and because there is no access other than the top and bottom, it's impossible to clear in place.
After about 3 months of use, my stove what really struggling to draw. eventually the carbon monoxide detector went off.
I removed the Flue from the top of the oven, and it was completely packed solid with cinders! No smoke could get through at all!!! I tried to remove, but the access is so poor it is impossible.
TLDR; Do not bother with this add on. It isn't safe, it's impossible to clear and you will end up having to throw it away.
